Lenguario | Guillermo Núñez

Lenguario originates from a series of drawings that depict coloured tongues, they were made during the 60s and were later transformed into serigraphs. These tongues are the result of Núñez’s experiments after his residency in New York during the middle of that decade, where he faced an artistic scene in which pop art was already in retreat. Upon his return to Chile, he carried out tests where ‘Lenguario’ emerged as a result, he named this type of works as ‘arte poplítico’.

In 2015 Nuñez made a larger size reproduction of this series, for an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago, Chile. These offset reproductions are the ones currently conform this publication.
