El mundo (miniature edition) | Fernando Pérez Villalón y Ana Lea-Plaza

Miniature version of El mundo, a book-object that contrasts a poem and a collage. Printed in non-sequential order, the stanzas of the poem deal with travel, the desire for novelty, multiplicity and its reverse, monotony and disillusionment. In dialogue with Baudelaire’s “Le voyage”, the subject to whom this text speaks is tired of wandering, commerce, tourism, his senses dulled by the excess of stimuli that end up becoming indistinguishable. The collage, in collaboration with Ana Lea-Plaza, builds a miniature world with cut-outs, a microcosm crowded with imaginary landscapes, dream characters, impossible cities and paradoxical objects. The vanishing point of the book is the crossroads between this variegated, multicolored image and a contained text, with a regular rhythm, that longs for rest and dissolution. The object in which both converge, elaborated in collaboration with Naranja Publicaciones, is something like a map or folding brochure that fits inside a box the size of the palm of the hand, and that when opened reveals to us little by little, in the different possible routes through its pages, the contrasts and complicities between the word and the image.
