Imaginar otros vuelos | Caudal Gráfico
This book is a collaborative work of printmaking. From conceptualization to execution, we worked together every step of the way. A dialogue about how creative processes have a similarity to the way nature works.
Inspired by the 4 elements of nature, we decided to trace the similarities of our own creative processes with the forms and movements of each element: fire as an explosive will to create, air where multiple ideas intertwine stormy until decanting into water as a deep sensitivity, and earth as the concrete space in which to root our practice. The hands of each one appear in this narrative, creating a weave that goes beyond the production of an image. This book is a log of efforts to collectivize artistic creation, it is a record of the dialogues of experimentation and the practice of printmaking, it is a way to share and collaborate in a work where there is space for all wills.
It becomes inevitable to open conversations about collaboration in art in our current context and to ask ourselves: what do we want to sow for the future in each of our practices? Are we in a context that favors the creation of collectives and that respects the times of dialogue and agreements? This publication reminds us of the need for our hands to create with other women, and also of the complexity of rowing in the political direction we believe to be correct. We share the vision and the outline in each of these pages, creating an ecosystem of agreements and disagreements, mistakes and surprises, technique and emotion. Above all, it is the record of a restlessness to continue to create together, and a desire to follow in the footsteps of the women who taught us to share, and to turn to nature and its counsel to connect with the physical and emotional territory that sustains our vision of the future.

About Caudal Gráfico
Caudal Gráfico is an artists’ collective that emerged in the Chilean uprising of 2019, building a critical and containment space from the craft of printmaking in a context of change. Five years after its creation, the collective has developed projects that seek new ways of practicing printmaking. Experimenting with methods of collective creation, each work challenges authorship with prints that intertwine in shared processes. Playing with formats and materialities has allowed us to displace the craft, with works that have been installed in different urban interventions. These works have been installed in various urban interventions. These works are not part of the logic of a productive model that reduces the time of creation to immediacy, opting for constant learning and the necessary care that the craft requires. As a collective we have also diversified into other creative fields such as mural painting, workshops and illustration, always maintaining the collaborative spirit.
