PIC | Catalina de la Cruz

Single copy photochemical book made with photographic emulsions of the 19th century and other analogous procedures.

PIC is part of a serie of 4 unique books that problematizes about the fragmen- tary character of residual construction,

inspired by the location of the images it contains, Puerto Viejo, a seaside land occupation.

The artist works in base on those constructions in which materials try to fit in a difficult way since their shapes, sizes and asymmetry don’t allow any preci- sion. Thereby through cuts and extractions of fragments this book articulates mismatched openings along its entire sequence. At the same time it interpos- espages with images and pages in blank, combining the full and the empty, allowing a glimpse of a sort of open architecture, segments of another land- scape, both interior and exterior.
