Mandala | Guillermo Núñez

Mandala is an artist’s book published in 2008 that Núñez began to develop in 1974, when he was imprisoned by the Pinochet dictatorship for the second time.

The publication is a large diary in which the artist mixes content from different sources and voices: photographs of the great horrors of human history are mixed with other people’s poems, with his own poems, with dictionaries, with drawings or clippings.

All this assemblage approaches a reading experience that is, in turn, an invitation to visit horror; a sequence that began to be articulated at a moment when the artist was able to see that same horror head-on.
