Contrast and Connections | Martín La Roche

The repetitive action of putting stickers on a surface is the technique Martín La Roche utilizes to transform the narrative contained in the guide Contrast and Connections. Originally meant as a review of the twentieth century painting and sculpture art pieces of the Hannema-de Stuers Foundation in Heino/Wijhe, this guide published in 1991 portrayed different movements and artists of their collection. The later sticker gesture of the artist blurs and covers the access to the images in the publication while at the same time it leaves intact the explanatory texts. To read the texts in relation to these new images is the recent fate for Contrast and Connections.
