El monstruo sin nombre | Erick Faúndez

The nameless monster uses the school notebook as a container for the little secrets of childhood, turning it into an object capable of holding dreams, ideals, stories and heartbreaks. The work quotes the original story (Monster, 1994) by the mangaka Naoki Urasawa, which is about a monster who, searching for his identity in others, is left alone. The reconstruction of a children’s archive with scraps of appropriated images – both of abandoned houses and of fortuitous memories impregnated in those notebook pages by means of transfers, as if not wanting to lose again the memory of having belonged somewhere, insists that in the construction of an album images can become a repertoire of our desires, they allow us to retain the illusion of our own history, even if it is not real, even if it does not belong to us. We see ourselves in the eyes of others; we also see ourselves in their images.
